During one of my recent moves, I found several old notebooks from college. Among them I found the following essay in a notebook marked English Comp 101 from the fall of 1999.
There are three things you should know before you read it:
#1 - This was a real paper for a real english 101 assignment
#2 - I had no real life experience or basis for the position I argue
#3 - I recieved a grade of A- along with the comment: "Engaging & Well-Expressed"

Sex: The Best Sport on Earth
If sports require good physical health, aerobic activity and at least two participants, then sex has just become the best sport on earth! This 'sport' should become a new alternative to regular games, since in many ways, having sex can become as intense, if not more so than football or basketball. I consider sex a sport because it demands good physical condition, it gets the heart rate up, and people do it one-on-one, and sometimes, even in groups.
To stand the long haul while performing strenuous sexual acts, one must display the best health possible. Having poor health can cause various problems such as shortness of breath, increased chance of heart attack and fatigue. To keep in shape for sex, one can jog, do sit-ups, or even lift weights. By practicing these exercises, one can keep the heart strong and build a breathing endurance. This assures that one will have an enjoyable experience without the fear of ending the night at the local hospital due to health complications.
As an exciting, physical game, sex allows one to reach the level of aerobic activity quickly. As the intensitiy of the situation increases, so do the heat and heart rate. These factors bring the effectiveness of sex as a sport and an aerobic workout to full impact. In fact, one can burn 120 calories an hour just by having intense sex, the same amount as two hours of swimming. One game of doubles tennis does not burn this many calories. This proves that sex allows for the same effects as many practiced sports.
Just as sports have teams, sex, in its own way has teams as well. Most people play one-on-one, but the more adventurous at heart choose orgies, or 'team sex.' As with many other sports, sex played as a team event gets a little more complicated. One has a more difficult time determining his or her role and goal when sex turns into a group activity. Whether played with just two people or as a group, sex still reaches a certain level of competition. One competes to please the other person or persons involved. These qualities make sex the most actively competitive sport in the world.
In conclusion, because it requires good physical condition, increases aerobic activity and takes at least two people to play, sex makes the best sport ever. With just a heated interaction, one can achieve an extraordinary workout and intensify one's bond with the other partner. The next time you need a quick, fun, fat burner, try a good old fashioned round of sex, the most competitive sport in the bedroom.
